Kettlebell workout today

I just finished my 5 minute kettlebell circuit workout and WOW!  It gets the heart pumping and the sweat flowing in just 5 minutes.  (check out the video at the bottom of page to see what it is)

Lori (my sister) had given me a subscription to Fitness magazine [at the time I thought - nice hint :-)] but soon realized I really liked the magazine and found myself excited reading it.  In one issue they had a section on the Russian Kettlebell and I was really intrigued.  I got online and started searching for info on them and was surprised at how people were using these to get in shape.  With my birthday coming up and being disgusted with my body, I asked for a kettlebell.  My husband bought me a 10lb k.b. at my request but felt I could go heavier.  Again I got online to see what women usually start out with.  I found that most women begin with a 9kg (18lbs) or 12kg (26lbs) k.b.  We went to return the 10 pounder and find a heavier one.  I ended up with one weighing 25lbs.  Let me tell you - that was a huge difference!  I felt a little more awkward trying to do kettlebell swings but once I got used to the weight I realized how much more of a workout I was getting.

On my blog list on the right is a link to a trainer that uses kettlebells with all his clients.  It is the "Lose Stubborn Fat" blog.

  1. Wow. I watched that movie, and I think it got my heart pumping just watching it! So do you have to rest during circuits or can you do it without stopping?

  2. I haven't done this workout in a LONG time and did it this morning. Wow! I can tell I have eaten too much crap and haven't exercised in too long. I rest as much as I need to for each set but try to keep going. It really gets the heart pumping!
